Cortelyounext: My LOA Defense

Posted by JayZeeBMT on Sat Aug 29 18:25:37 2015

As per my earlier posts, I am herewith presenting my formal defense against your suspension of me, per se from the List Of aviators in the Subchat Community. As the issue in controversy is my repeated extolling of the superiority of aircraft manufactured by the Boeing Airplane Company, over those produced by the Airbus Industrie consortium, I shall open my case in chief in camera as follows:

The Boeing Company represents nearly a full century of airplane development, design, refinement, and manufacture, making this venerable organization a pillar of the American aircraft industry. Its airplanes have pioneered the art and science of commercial and military aviation, led the United States and her allies to decisive victory in WWII, brought passenger flying into common usage, and etched their names into the annals of human history on countless occasions. Bill Boeing's legacy endures into the current era, as his revolutionary designs continue to serve us today. The unparalleled superiority of such legendary planes as the B-52, the immortal 700-series of passenger liners, and even Boeing-built spacecraft beginning in the early days of space flight, and continuing through the present Space Launch System (SLS).

Moreover, it is a critically important component of my defense that every US President since Dwight D. Eisenhower, has flown in office aboard Air Force One aircraft that have been exclusively Boeing models, (except for short-range Gulfstream aircraft), from the original VC-137C 707s, to today's VC-25A 747-200s, and tomorrow's VC25B 747-8 Intercontinentals. Each of these Presidential aircraft (and the intermediate-range C-32A 757) have, as a matter of operational readiness, historically been built and supported by Boeing Military Aircraft. Airbus submitted a proposal to the Department of Defense for an A380-300 VC-26A Air Force One aircraft, but this was demurred in favor of the traditional Boeing products.

I will stipulate that Airbus Industrie has responded admirably to the challenge of Boeing's competition in both civilian and military markets, producing a classic line of commercial planes in the A3XX series, culminating with the highly advanced A380 family, and the A350 XWB, and a long line of military aircraft components, however, the company has existed for less than half the corporate lifetime of Boeing, and is itself a combination of earlier, smaller corporate entities.

Airbus is also generally oriented towards a radically different flight deck environment, breaking with tradition in later models by introducing a side-stick controller, rather than the tried-and-true yoke/pedals combination that has served throughout the history of aviation. This disregard for historical precedent has led to two scholia of thought regarding flight control functions and ergonomics. Together with the conferring of excessive Flight Management System (FMS) authority in control ("flight control law") of the aircraft (as demonstrated graphically by the infamous crash of an Air France A320 at the Paris Air Show some years ago.

Boeing, in addition, continues to prove the craftsmanship and extraordinary longevity of its products, most notably the 85 B-52H bombers currently serving in the USAF, a sixty-three-year-old design which is expected to remain in service with the Air Combat Command (ACC) until at least 2045, stare decisis.

As for the second part of my vigorous defense, I submit as Exhibit A, your post concerning the Administration of LOA for 2016, which you made on June 18 of this year. Please note that it reads, in part, The only current individuals who are safe are Joe, Dave from the Metroplex, and of course the dual threat JayZeeBMT who is a published author, noted playwright, respected journalist, leading voice of the Progressive movement, beacon of hope for the Tri-State Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the LGBTQQIA Community, and a pretty big deal on the New York social scene. This relevant passage suggests, in your own words, that I was to be held harmless from summary action by you, such as you have initiated by my suspension from the LOA. This prima facie evidence constitutes both a reference and a character statement by you, in support of my ongoing defense.

Furthermore, the List Of Aviators (LOA) was, in fact, created by LuchAAA on July 23, 2013, suggesting that said list is within his bailiwick, as far as administration and membership is concerned. as to when and how such authority devolved upon you is a further issue in controversy. Now, as my defense rests upon these salient facts, there is just one more point I wish to make regarding the opening pase of my case in chief: Until relatively recently, 'every Airbus was delivered on the wings of a Boeing', demonstrating that Airbus entrusted the safety of millions of dollars' worth of their components and fuselages to airplanes built decades earlier, by its main competitor, Boeing,, thereby acknowledging in its corporate practice, the superiority (and lack of their own equivalent) of Boeing's products.

I rest my case...for now...

Well played. As the leading male flight attendant on this board and a member of the Community of Color who happens to identify as white I am eminently which means more than qualified to establish and regulate policy and render decisions involving the selection of LOA members, to include Associate, Probationary, Tenured, and Permanent, as well as any subsequent suspension or termination thereof. The LuchAAA was overwhelmed with maintaining the LOL to the point that he conferred the formal powers of LOA management and oversight unto me - I never categorically stated nor implied that I established said list. It was a rare gesture on his part to bestow upon my shoulders that immense responsibility and I felt both humbled and priviledged to assume that burden freely and without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. To your point... you do not want to engage me in a dissertation re. Airbus Flight Control Laws, aircraft systems, or aerodynamic design. That will not end well for you I promise. Am I making myself fairly clear? That said written, many of your arguments are lucid cogent well thought out call it what you will to the point of being, and this is difficult to admit, persuasive. I need to get my adequate rest as I will be quote unquote delivering friendly service to the passengers tomorrow morning from Toronto to Chicago and then Chicago to Portland, Oregon. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. As you are well aware, I have made an exception in your case as this particular circumstance does not ordinarily fall within the generally accepted provisions for and guidelines of the appeals process. The Board has taken the issue under advisement. Please monitor this thread periodically for critical updates.

I have read your thoughtful response, and while not entertaining your assertion about whether a discussion of Airbeese' flight control characteristics or aerodynamics will "end well" for me, I appreciate your civility and acknowledgment of the quality of my defense. I will therefore await future updates on my status with the prestigious Subchat List of Aviators, to which my efforts at restoration thereto have been diligently directed.

I am in Portland, Oregon. In an unprecedented step in my role as Chairman and General Counsel, I directed the Board to convene an Emergency Meeting on Sunday to consider your situation forthwith. The meeting convened at 301500Z(Universal Time Coordinated) AUG 15 in Darien, Connecticut (I participated in a non-voting capacity through satellite uplink as I was airborne at the time). Let it be entered into the official record that I was subsequently attacked by one 5301 Fishbowl in the Toronto thread. It is public knowledge said individual was selected to replace you on an interim basis pending the BI which was conducted as part of the vetting process and the final ruling re. your suspension, retroactive to Saturday last. His personal and ad hominem attacks on my character and person were completely unwarranted and uncalled for and served to help your cause at his expense. Regardless, you may well have had your suspension overturned on the merits alone but his reckless behavior was certainly in your favor. All relevant data, to include the archival records, datapoint sampling, statistical survey, and linguistic analysis were reviewed. No character references or Letters of Recommendation were part of the deliberations as none were submitted. The verdict was reached this evening unanimously with one abstention. You are immediately reinstated and retain your status as the only Dual Threat member of the LOL and LOA. Furthermore, the Board has directed your record be expunged of the suspension as long as you refrain from inflammatory or slanderous posts and related correspondence, in whatever form, to include implied consent re. the Airbus Industries/EADS SAS v. Boeing Aircraft Group controversy. The Board minutes, to include the Annexii, are hereby sealed for an as yet undetermined period of time. This matter is officially closed.
