Am I Discriminatory?

Here's the thing. The thought of two men kissing, dancing, canoodling, etc seems ridiculous and pathetic to me. men "having sex" with other men, i find the notion repulsive and disgusting. i don't think men should "marry" men; the concept is bizarre, and to me it's clearly a desperate attempt by men who, because they're either afraid of women, are too lame for women, or have sadly misinterpreted the early manifestations of their
sexual awakenings and confused "possibility" with "desirability", want to get people to think "yes, it's normal, men preferring the company of men the way most men naturally prefer the company of women. We're just like you!"

well, imho no,you're way different from me.

so, does thinking along these lines make me discriminatory? you can do what you want. you're free to be a jackass, no prob with me. but just don't ask me to like something i think is foul. that shit aint happening. and the marriage thing is stupid. you getting married to another man means absolutelty nothing. stuff you're doing is the equivalent of jerking yourself off with the other hand.

I don't think anyone (particularly the LGBT people) are asking you to approve and/or like what their actions/sexual preference.

They just want to be free to love who they love without the bashing, discrimination and so on.

I'm heterosexual, and I'm totally in favor of LGBT rights. If it's morally wrong as many of those who are opposed will say.... Then I say, let them be judged on their judgement day.

Admittedly, the first time I saw two men kissing in public.. the sight was a bit shocking to me, but IMO, they have just as much right to be affectionate with each other as anyone else.

My two cents.

Whatever side I'm on in any discussion, that type of retort always drives me crazy.

It's like saying I don't like discrimination, so just don't discriminate.

No, he's saying if you don't like gay marriage, that's fine. But it's really not your concern. No one is telling you to marry someone of the same sex.

That's one way to look at it. Everything should be legal if it doesn't directly affect someone else. Drugs, guns, nudity, polygamy, etc. I don't agree but many would.

Ntrainride's post held the opinion that men "shouldn't" marry other men. That's a step beyond "not liking" it.

SMAZ proposed the solution of simply not marrying another man.

But it's equivalent logic to:
-I think people shouldn't discriminate.
-Therefore, I should be satisfied with just not discriminating myself. It's not my concern what others do.

If we change it to just "not liking," rather than "should" or "shouldn't," then of course it's a different story.

The difference is that other people discriminating affects you, if you're the victim of discrimination. It's not comparable.

Everything affects everybody. Same-sex marriages will somehow have an effect on your daily life at one point or another, regardless of whether or not you enter into one.

The quality of the effect between that and discrimination may be of differing intensities.

But it remains equivalent logic.

But me saying "you shouldn't do that" has no legal standing. It's my personal p.o.v. nobody is going to change that. I also think that "people shouldn't drink and drive". -even though it's legal, still shouldn't do it...makes you behave like an asshole...stick with la jerba, if you want to alter your conciousness. again, just my p.o.v.

What are you saying, if i don't like something that you like, it makes me a bigot? and since you felt free to define me in that fashion, what are you claiming? that you like everything that everybody.else likes? how boring.

What are you saying, if i don't like something that you like, it makes me a bigot? sorry, this country still allows for freedom of thought and expression. does that disturb you? fine, perhaps you'd be happier living in north korea, or china, or syria. or perhaps you could move to one of those lovely "cradle of civilization" african countries where they put burning tires around your neck, or where soldiers come into your village and kill your sons and rape your preteen daughters. btw, are you claiming that you like everything that everybody else likes? how boring.

No it's not.

It's the equivalent to:
"people should mind their own business on matters that don't directly affect them".

ntrainride has no obligation to attend a gay wedding either.

He has that right.

He does NOT have the right to preclude that gay wedding from happening.
