If it's Fox News in Albany, probably most people know that Rensselaer County is on the east bank of the Hudson. And the Mohawk flows east-west, so it doesn't have an east bank.If it's not Fox News from Albany, it's of course completely sloppy, not just slightly so. |

The river is WAY east of where I am now. But it is amusing that they crossed the river right where I did live when I first moved up here. That's Selkirk/South Bethlehem.Yeah, when we get tired of eating Bambi all winter, nothing hits the spot like Bison burgers. :) |

Fifteen buffalo that escaped an upstate New York farm Friday were gunned down by hunters apparently hired by the small herd's owners after the animals wandered across a highway and even crossed the Hudson River.Authorities said Friday the herd was shot and killed because they became a danger after crossing the New York State Thruway. Three men hired by the farm were cleared to open fire Friday afternoon in a stream in woods in the town of Coeymans, about 10 miles south of the capital. Police say the decision was made after experts agreed tranquilizers would not be effective and no portable corrals could hold the animals. Authorities say they escaped Thursday from a farm across the Hudson River in the Rensselaer County town of Schodack. The owner believes they swam across the river to the town of Bethlehem, where they wandered across a busy stretch of Interstate 87 and into neighboring Coeymans. |

Especially since they might very well have to share it with a large group of bikers.....it's always seemed the last few times I've been on the Thruway, at one or the other of those rest stops, you've got Harleys and whatnot lined up curb to curb... they'd have given the buffalos a run for their money. |
