"King David was chastened and invited the frog to sing with him." - wonder if they sang, "I Cover the Waterfront" re: Jews passing through the parted Red sea. |

Chag kasher v'sameach to you.I have never attended a seder in a non-Jewish home. However, I have been to sedarim where non-Jews have been invited and attended, including in my parents own house. I can't imagine ever being invited to attend a seder in a non-Jewish home. Do you have an issue with a non-Jew hosting a chanukiyah lighting? |

I feel that Seders that are hosted by non Jews, is mocking my faith and heritage. And I have a big problem with the Seder beung hosted at the White House by obama. Or any other occupier of the White House. Especially by obama. |

It's probably because of your thick skin, you can't see the obvious, that obama is the most anti Israel, anti Semetic president in history. And any Jew who dares to attend a so called Passover Seder with the obamas, are self hating Jewish traitors. That so called Seder in the White House is a sham and an insult to my faith and heritage. |

Obama may very well be the most anti-Israel president if he keeps down the path he embarked on last week, but that doesn't necessarily mean his holding a seder in the White House is a mockery of our religion. |

I came to the conclusion that the Seder is the most hypocritical and sadistic ritual in the Jewish calendar.Forty years of Jewish wandering and suffering are commemorated by having a feast. One starves oneself during the day, knowing he will eat to excess at the Seder dinner. One arrives starved. What happens? One then has to sit through the recitation of half the Hagaddah before one can eat. It takes about an hour. The aroma of the food is wafting from the kitchen during that hour. One's only thought during that hour is hoping to hear dayenu. |

Let me speculate as to what is happening. All domestic almonds are grown in California. Almonds require a lot of irrigation. There's been an extended drought and irrigation water use has been drastically cut. This has caused the almond output to tumble and the price of domestic almonds to rise. The major source of imported almonds is Iran. The trade embargo means that Iranian almonds are not leaving Iran. The consequence is that many merchants felt the price of almond macaroons would be so high that people would not buy them. If you really need an almond fix and are willing to consume almonds that have not been blessed by some Rabbi, try marzipan at an Italian pastry shop. It's so sweet that only a little can be consumed at one sitting. You can feel your tooth enamel dissolving with each bite. |
