Cut the old fashion way,( before the "Canaidian Method" was approved by the FDA) with a pearing knife that passed for a scalpul.Surgeons fee...$250.00 Anesthesia.....&450.00 Room...........$90.00..per day Given big bottle of Milk of Magnesia after the surgery to prevent strain & ease the bodily function its designed for (worked great!). I asked why is the anesthesia fee higher than the surgeons? After all, they just knock you out. Wrong.. I was told that you pay them to wake you up. Good point! |

My left knee still has the normal amount of cartilage but my right knee is down to about 50%. My wife had a total left knee 2 1/2 years ago and will get her right knee done next year. |

Thanks, everybody, for your kind thoughts. All in all, I'm a lucky man that this wasn't more complicated. I've heard of "strangulated hernias", very painful and needing emergency surgery. I had no pain or bowel obstrtucion with mine. The extended scrotum made me take notice and see my doctor. He guessed it was hernia and said, did a bowel drop down? Well the ultrasound proved he was correct , but the bowel was not in trouble. Just some heads up information for all you guys. |

Posted by AlM on Fri Mar 6 10:07:11 2015, in response to Re: My Status, posted by Dave on Fri Mar 6 09:56:04 2015. My wife has had them for close to 10 years. They don't work quite as well as they used to but still work. She wants to put off knee replacements long enough that they last her the rest of her life. It would be really awful to have a replacement fail at 85 and be told you're too old for surgery. |
