Gansevoorting Around

I'll be gansevoorting around Little W. 12th Street in Lower Manhattan tomorrow. I am heading to the city from Upstate my initial stop being Loeser's Deli in Kingsbridge or Liebman's Deli in Riverdale to gather essentials for the weekend. I will then head down to The Cloisters in Ft. Tryon Park which is the medieval branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art where I spent Sunday last taking in the Cezanne and El Greco exhibits among other stuff. I am going to leave my car in The Cloisters parking lot and take the A from 190th/Overlook to Times Square then the N/Q/R over to 5th Avenue near 57th where there are a couple galleries showing the work of Davd Levine (Coney Island watercolours watercolors) and Andrew Wyeth. I'll then reverse course and take the 7th Avenue Local down to Christopher Street so I can stop by a couple coffee importers (Porto Rico and McNulty's) and a bakery (Amy's) then walk the streets of Chelsea and the West Village just generally looking to start trouble and whatnot. I'll probably take the 1 back to 168th and transfer to the A ending up back at 190th/Overlook. Have a pleasant and realaxing weekend all.

I'm jealous. Wish I was in NYC where there's much to do.

Only good thing about Florida is I get my outdoor workouts done because of the temps.

Sounds like a great outing. It's going to be freaking cold though.

Excellent itinerary, mon frere! You will enjoy it all, and the far west end is also a lot of fun down there near the piers.

So like I stop off at Joe on Waverly Place for a cup of coffee after brunching at The Cornelia Street Cafe but the line is out the door so I head up to Whatnot or something that sounds like that at the corner of Christopher and Gay for an espresso. Come out of there and hang a left for Sheridan Square to catch the uptown 1 and lo and behold what do I encounter at the corner of Christopher and Grove? An unfocused protest in support of disparate causes. Shocker. It was right across from some place called the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop (I made the conscious decision not to enter said establishment for no reason other than the bitterly cold temperatures). Anyway, as I walked by I heard chanting something about income inequality, racist police, and climate change in the tired and worn "When Do We Want It? Now!" staccato. Most were young and white with nary which means not a person of color to be found not one. It was hilarious and it was too easy so I descended the stairs and headed up to the Bronx in search of more challenging prey which I found but that is for another thread on another day.
