At one time in the 60s there was a big push to start Christian style Jewish missions in China. I never heard of success or failure of these missions and grew curious. Unfortunately, the only Chinese person I knew back then was Kevin, who had a restaurant in Chinatown. One day I asked him if they had any Chinese Jews. His English was so so and he looked confused by the question. He walked away but came back a few minutes later. He said,"I asked the cook. We have Apple Jews and Orange Jews but no Chinese Jews." |

Imagine tragedy striking El Salvador.Christian missions from the Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Mormon, etc.........churches are on the first planes there with supplies. Main reason is to recruit. Retain membership. Judaism does not have to do this kind of thing. Judaism is based on one's DNA, not being baptized or "born again" as in Christianity. |

The Spanish Inquisition got its first big push by inquiring as to the sincerity of Jewish (and to a lesser extent Moslem) conversions to Catholism to avoid expulsion from Spain.It really got rolling after the 1492 (when someone sailed the ocean blue) expulsions. |
