Whenever I see them soliciting money on the street, I always tell them that there are plenty of environmental activists who don't demand that poor people starve to satisfy their first-world notions of "purity."Now I have something else to say to them. That said, I don't think the Nazca Lines should be called "sacred." They're a priceless historical site— "sanctity" is cheap and calling them sacred lessens them. "Sacred" things can be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced— the Nazca lines can't. |
