Whenever I see them soliciting money on the street, I always tell them that there are plenty of environmental activists who don't demand that poor people starve to satisfy their first-world notions of "purity."

Now I have something else to say to them.

That said, I don't think the Nazca Lines should be called "sacred." They're a priceless historical site— "sanctity" is cheap and calling them sacred lessens them. "Sacred" things can be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced— the Nazca lines can't.

I agree. the term sacred is thrown around too much. It is sometimes used patronizingly by western people who are thoroughly secular in their own lives and culture. One man's sacred artiface is another's blasphemy.
