We all show prudent concern, but some of us keep abreast of the facts and not leap on every word, i.e. the virus could mutate, etc.Second, how did you determine that ONLY Republicans are concerned. I said "panicking" and not "concerned". We're all concerned but Republicans are panicking. It's likely mock panic because IMO it's of prime importance to the FOXzis to blame Obama for letting Ebola into the US, so ramping up the drama helps achieve that end. Back when HIV was new and it was thought to be confined to the Gay Community it was a horrible disease but contained in that community. Then they found out that the IV drug users were not only at risk but as likely or more likely to catch the disease. Still it was contained in those communities and people felt safe. Then married men who were either bisexual or recreational IV drug users or women who associated with High risk people brought it home to their traditional marriage homes. Then infected women began passing it on to their new-borns and there you have an epidemic.Now if you are so smug and short-sighted to think that the CDC or medical science knows all they need to about Ebola - about which groups are at risk - about how it's transmitted - about the exact moment when a person becomes contagious, you are fooling yourself. Now that the CDC has backed off on its' "Breech of Protocols" comment, we need to know a few more things. 1) How did this nurse catch the disease? 2) What about the 10 or 15 people she was in contact with before she was hospitalized 3) What about the 10-15 people each of them were in contact with 4) What about the 10-15 people each of them were in contact with Of course, I doubt that you get the point but some others might. |

No, in your paranoia you missed the point. HIV was an unknown disease - how long did it take to even identify the cause of AIDS, let alone the exact method of transmission? Ebola, OTOH, has been isolated and its method of transmission and incubation period are well known, AND they've been keeping tabs on all the people who came in contact with patient zero since well before the danger of her becoming contagious started. The CDC knows a lot more about Ebola from the start - about which groups are at risk, about how its transmitted, about when someone becomes contagious, your anti-government paranoia notwithstanding. |

One of the things noted so far about the hospital - with level 3 and higher, you're supposed to have a spotter as you take off your protective gear to make sure that nothing on the outside of any of it comes in contact with you. The nurse didn't have this "protocol" observed, and that's what the CDC director was talking about originally. That's how she likely got infected.But hey ... gotta just sit back and respect the end of the world chorus and tell them what they want to hear - we're all gonna die, thanks Obama. :-\ |
