To be fair as Donte Stallworth pointed out this is a gray area in the rules because you are dealing with rules and exceptions to rules that unfortunately do not cover every possible scenario and I am not sure if the officials are taught on what is an example of a prayer versus going to the ground as a taunt (which is what the rule was meant to cover) |

The officials had better learn fast how to tell the difference between prayer and taunting, or they need to ban all prayer. And Abdullah needs not "slide" the next time he bows in prayer, which does seem like a legit reason for throwing a flag on the celebration. |

I'm not an NFL rules expert, if he slid which is apparently against the rules, he should be penalized for that infraction (though not fined). The NFL should allow all players to pray in celebration following pivotal plays or ban it outright, there is no in between on this one. |
