The fact that the kid didn't get contacts, calendars and other personal information though clearly indicates that they never got their hands on the icloud at all. Further, I'm involved in the investigation. Most of the images that were posted came from Android phones, based on EXIF and fiename information. Icloud doesn't do those. What happened here looks more like a trojan attack on their computers. Photos are backed up to the local photo gallery, not iTunes and from what got grabbed, looks like an attack on their computers and not anything from icloud. You only get five tries to get the right password with icloud and if you screw up, you're locked out of your account until you get in touch with Apple and get it unlocked. Just one more bit of proff that the media couldn't get a story about sunrise correctly. :( But no, not icloud. |

Google "torrent the fappening" and you should find it.From what I saw, kind of meh. First, it helps to have an interest in them in the first place, and second, a good photographer would make a load of difference. :-) |

At this point in time though, we know who did it, we know HOW they did it, and it didn't involve icloud. Can't say much more right now. What a huge black mark on Google! The attack was so widespread, it doesn't sound like the trojan/backdoor/whatever came from an obscure app, it sounds like a weakness in something popular or in the OS itself. |

Basically, the deal is that if they had the apple ID AND the secret password (guessing gets the account locked) then they have as much authorization as the real user. But doing this is not a good idea, but can't go into the details of how you leave a trail when you do that.Looks like most of the photos came from the victim's computers and from a few other sites. Wish I could tell you more, but the investigation has gone major league and therefore can't say all I know. HOWEVER, since this is just another annoying fucktard from FOX News who is seriously pissing me off wanting an interview, a clown called Matt Finn there who was stupid enough to post his email address to 4chan and other places, and I'm f'in' dying here right now watching him completely lose it. Helps to make me forget about all the hours I've racked up so far on this. His most recent post: "Please stop sending pornography to my email, I am reporting this to the authorities." Lulz. :) |

Nope ... all these kids need is the signon and password for pretty much ANY remote storage site. That's how it's being done. Get the credentials, you ARE that person. At least at Apple, celebrities get special locks on their icloud accounts, and anyone who avails themselves of the "two factor authentication" cannot fall victim to someone else getting in.Pictures taken by Apple devices have very unique filenames. The filenames of the booty in this caper are NOT Apple filenames except for a very small handful. Like I said, wish I could say more but I can't right now. Once this is over I might be able to. We KNOW who dunnit, dumbass posted screen shots with his Windows 7 folder labels. :) |

It is possible for photos with Android EXIF data to end up on iCloud. If you have iPhoto, then adding any photo to the library, from any source, will cause it to be uploaded to the iCloud photo stream, if that feature is enabled. Meanwhile, Apple also has an iCloud Control Panel for Windows. If you add any photos to the "Upload" folder assigned by that app, it is moved to the iCloud Photo Stream folder, and uploaded to the iCloud Photo Stream. If you receive a photo by e-mail or MMS on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, and save it to your camera roll, it is uploaded to the iCloud Photo Stream, if enabled. Same if you save it off the web or through an app into the camera roll. Finally, if you have the iPad camera adapter USB, and connect an android phone to that, it will treat it as a camera, save the photos, and IINM upload it to the iCloud Photo Stream. That seems like the least likely scenario. |

Yep ... and of course using a password like "1princess" certainly wasn't their fault. :)Turns out most of them actually had their computers owned by a trojan called "Dark Comet" which gave up their passwords to numerous cloud sites. And most of the pictures were lifted from their "My Pictures" directories on their own machines. Maybe they should have used a better antivirus. (grin) |

Well ... photos taken with an iToy are in their native size on the device. Did you know that when you place a folder onto an iDevice or use itunes or the cloud for "external" photos, that they are resized for the device's screen and are NOT the same size as images taken with the device? Haven't you figured out yet why I know what I know? I've dropped more than enough hints. :) |
