There isn't a shred of hateful or threatening language in that article, just the same analysis of what's going wrong here and what needs correcting as 99% of any other analysis of what's going wrong here and what needs correcting.So, what I see is that this country has unity on what the problems are and what to do to fix them, but no will to fight together to carry it through. It's a political-economic thing that crosses the old-school lines of one dimensional thought like you constantly participate in. This affects everyone equally. No, the injustice of fearing your local police department when you haven't or won't do anything wrong. I'm glad that we have outreach here as well as beat cops in the cities. Makes a major difference compared to paramilitary in rubber tired gunboats. Kids can talk to the cops here. Police departments have community centers and visit schools. Neighbors sit outside and watch their streets and say "nuh-uh ... we ain't putting up with that stuff HERE."Makes a difference. |

Police departments should definitely be made up of folks who actually KNOW the community. Did you happen to notice what happened when the Missouri STATE Police took over the situation? The chief was FROM Ferguson. First thing he did was get out there among the people and talk down the situation.And diversity wasn't to be found anywhere in the message you replied to but since you bring it up, it definitely helps to have locals who know the other locals making decisions. It was coming in there like it was Gaza that got everything out of control there. There ARE other ways to handle things but it was quite clear that the local yokels were scared shitless of their own neighborhood. That's NOT "dealing from a position of strength" ... |

There are OTHER ways to deal with situations and this will hopefully serve as a lesson in what NOT to do all around.
