Question about KNOS

Hey Selkirk,

Does KNOS support any PKI's out there? Apparently this seems to be the new wave in cybersecurity, having our security certificates installed through a PKI, which is unfortunately leaving Linux in the dust. (Not that I've actually done an industry survey, it's just that our company got socked with it, thus orphaning various users, including myself. :-()

If you're referring to DoD Class 3 PKI's or similar (such as Microsoft PKI services) the answer is yes. Only catch is that it requires a custom build of KNOS for that specific purpose. PKI's have been around since 2007 and many of our government clients require that. The certificate needs to be installed in the kernel profile itself, that's why it requires a custom build. Fixed VPN services require similar. We do both all the time.

Sounds like your situation is a simple corporate LAN kinda setup, those are easy. We also support the full tilt TKS/TPS arrangements. The stock "public" version of KNOS however doesn't come with that.
