Fountain soda tastes like brown water anyhow no matter what the brand. When Julie goes to the Arby's by her, she stops into the deli a few blocks away and picks a 20oz bottle of diet Dr. Pepper rather than stooping to drinking fountain soda.

Ironic that you should mention RC Cola in this Arby's thread, back in the day (late 70s) there was an Arby's in Long Beach (CA) that served RC Cola. IIRC, they were the only one in the L. A. area (at least among the ones I patronized). I think back then each Arby's franchisee could make their own soft drink deals.

'Hahahahaha....there is the Kola nut and then there is the Uncola Nut. Ahhhhh, Seven Up.' Seven Up and Dr. Pepper are licensed products of the Seven Up and Dr. Pepper Corperation of Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Pepper is distributed by associated Coca-Cola bottlers while Seven-Up is distributed by associated Canada Dry bottlers. Just so happened I wanted some Seven-Up from ShopRite...four pack of new 'natural Seven-Up' was $ 1.99. Coke products were FOUR twelve packs for TEN BUCKS with a free case of Dasani thrown in. Crook vendor in our shop charges a BUCK for one can of soda and CC leased machines are filled with non-CC products. Two bucks for a bottle of 'A-Treat' black cherry soda...2/89 cents at ShopRite.

99% of Dr. Pepper bottlers are Pepsi bottlers. One fof the soda oddities is a while ago, Coke tried to buy Dr. Pepper. The FTC said "no deal", as it would have resulted in economic dislocation as Dr. Pepper bottlers would either have to switch to the local Coke bottler, or wind up with a Pepsi bottler that was producing a Coke product.

That descision resulted in Coke creating Mr. Pibb, a Dr. Pepper clone.

No, in a time where cola was still connected with medicinal tonics. Moxie was the first one to sell it outside the drug store, in bottles (before Coke). Once that connection was severed, the taste became a liability and it's popularity declined rapidly.

Dr. Pepper is bottled by it's own company. It's distributed by Coca-Cola in the NYC area. That's why you can get it at Coke fountains and it's why Mr. Pibb is nowhere to be found.
