What exactly is "White Privilege" in 2014? is it daddy giving the IVY league school at ton of money to get junior in that school? or something else?

So now even college debates are being driven down into ghetto behavior.

"So now even college debates are being driven down into ghetto behavior."

As that what White people call "diversity" in 2014? must be from your perspective.

Oh...and btw, just so you know, they do admit people from the "ghetto," even into Harvard.

That's just plain ordinary dumbing down and is unacceptable.

Yes and when in Harvard, do as the Harvards do, and not dumb down the structure because it's easier. The tail doesn't wag the dog.

"Yes and when in Harvard, do as the Harvards do"

Why? because it's "traditional?" if you don't add diversity at some point, we are losing out on the diversity of a nation as a whole. It's like your expecting people to debate one way and no other way is false.

The reason for debate rules is to create an equal and civilized forum for discussing the differences of a topic. Everybody gets equal time to make their case and there's no fighting. The system has worked for hundreds of years in everything from schools to governments so why do we have to change it so somebody can say "fuck the time" when they run out of time to make their debate?

Things that work well don't have to be changed. Things that don't work should be changed.

your pal,
Fred

Well said, Fred. The rules are what they are. If some debaters and schools want something different that's fine; start a second debating tournament with different (or without) rules.

Well ... for what it's worth growing up in the Bronx, The Marquess of Queensberry rules were never part of our street conversation up until they came up for the first time in school. And yeah, I'm white. :)

I'm surprised we haven't been there already and raised the ante to drones circling above the house chamber. I mean what's the point of such a lovely rotunda if we can't at least get some altitude going? :)

Why would they do that when they are managing to win using the current format? If anything I'd blame the judges, not the debaters.
