There is no such thing as "race", except to runners, horses, drivers and bigots. There are some geographically differentiated genetic tendencies, but that's due to physical isolation prohibiting interbreeding. These differences are superficial and meaningless. |

Your right to free speech is one thing. Why anyone should listen to you is a whole nother ball game... Hank Aaron has the right to his opinion, I never said he didn't. My question what would be a reason to take his opinion, which is all it is, his opinion, as much as someone saying the dems are all communistic tyrants, it's all opinion. My question is why should we view it as more than that? All he did was swing a stick at a tightly woven lump of string and cork and run around a lot. All that earns him is an automatic spot selling cereal. There has to be something more to him to be considered having his opinion in politics be worth anything more than anyone else. |

Whites, who were in favor of separations, listened to the folks backing Nixon and his agenda...and began switching. All of that stupidity came to a head the day our current president was elected BY THE PEOPLE who were tired of the bullshit Bush and his war mongering VP were doing to the country.. For anyone who does care about the facts, Hank Aaron dropped out of high school in his senior year to play baseball.Quote: "In his junior year, Aaron transferred to the Josephine Allen Institute, a neighboring private school that had an organized baseball program. Before the end of his first year at Allen, he had more than proved his abilities on the baseball field. Then, perhaps sensing that he had a bigger future ahead of him, in 1951, the 18-year-old Aaron quit school to play for the Negro Baseball League's Indianopolis Clowns." Source: http://www.biography.com/people/hank-aaron-9173497#early-life&awesm=~oB8luvvSDKmwu0 Now the question was, why should the political opinions of a high school dropout be given any special consideration? Now, to your snarky little question. As a matter of fact, a college education was not required for the job for which I was first hired at the MTA. 5 years of journeyman electrical experience was. Fortunately, I had the journeyman experience and a college degree which helped me advance up the ladder. Now do you find any problems with that? |

I wonder where it went? Most government plans assume 8% long return on assets, or even if they have dropped it now, they were assuming that for many years in the past. Well, long term 8% return on assets stopped happening in 2000 and hasn't been happening since. |

Here's a better question: If it wasn't Hank Aaron but just some average Joe who dropped out of high school, would he have been given his 15 minutes of fame to pontificate about the GOP being like the Klan?I have the same issue with actors testifying to Congress about global warming, the war in Syria, etc. What makes them knowledgeable enough on the topic to warrant giving Congressional testimony? Back when I was in law school I wrote a paper for the law review on the marriage penalty tax. One of the school's tax law professors asked me to modify it slightly for him to use as his notes for testimony he was scheduled to give at a Congressional subcommittee hearing on the subject. I did so and sat next to him while he gave his testimony and answered a few questions. I jokingly said to the professor afterwards that I could have saved him the time of taking the train to DC; I wrote the paper so I should have given the testimony. He laughed and asked what my qualifications were that Congress would even consider listening to me? So I ask: What makes Hank Aaron qualified to compare the GOP to the Klan? |

What drives my point home is the fact? That this man spoke on the current actions of the GOP congressional body,a WELL documented accounting of their actions..and more or less time wasting detrimental Non action...and the results were the predictable personal attacks on his career And his person by the same do nothing party and its members. The SAME party, mind you, that is currently engaging in reworked, renamed retrograde tactics, revise discriminating practices to ensure their politicians are either Reelected..or elected to government office. The fact that NONE of you Republicans have taken a stand on this..and even support it,speaks VOLUMES about how to tow the "Party Line",and your personal need to be in control over others. |
