Many of my gym colleagues seem to watch Fox.

I fucking hate the channel. I just saw a FB feed about Dick Morris on Fox tonight. I'll be at the gym doing squats, dead lifts, and bench press 5x5 workout.

My gym will have Fox News on one television because the owner is a hardcore conservative with an F-150.

But where the hell do you workout that people watch Fox News? I thought you live in the NY area.

Sorry about the macaroni of Friday.

Because it sounds stupid.

If you're not calling it pasta, you gotta call it by the type of pasta it is (rigatoni, fusilli, spaghetti, penne, ziti, etc).

Maccheroni are a short ziti-like pasta that are greenish because spinach is added into the flour.

They are mostly a regional thing in Central Italy.
If one says "maccheroni" in Italy, they will think that you are talking about this one variety of pasta and not pasta in general (which is called "pasta").

No, he's right.

I didn't explain it well when I said "ziti-like".
Maccheroni are a bit shorter than ziti. Some are more curved than others.
There are also sub-categories of maccheroni.

Just like spaghetti has its own sub-categories (Capelli d'angelo, linguine, bucatini, etc).

It's why there is a numbering system for different types of pasta. Quality pasta has the number on the box.

While a lot of people refer to pasta in general as "macaroni", I expect more from someone of Italian origin.

Now he's in Florida and telling people that it's perfectly fine to call non-maccheroni types of pasta "macaroni" and they'll take his word for it since he's of Italian origin and from NY.

It's my duty to stop this kind of madness.

I was playing with him with that response. May not be Italian myself, but grew up in the Bronx which of course required full awareness of all that stuff or else kneecap guards. I opted to learn my pasta. :)

And to give you an idea of HOW seriously I still take pasta to this day, we mix our own semolina and extrude our own, dry it on a wooden rack like you're supposed to. None of this boxed crap. And yeah, we make our own sauce too. You can do that when you live out with the tomatoes. :)
