Genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. The purpose of the slave trade was not to kill people but to ship them to Europe and/or the Americas for labor. The effect of the slave trade was to kill many slaves, either in transit or in the fields.But the purpose of the Holocaust was to commit genocide; to wipe the Jews and other "undesirables" off the planet. The Nazis came close to succeeding in Europe. |

True, not all slave trade activity was genocidal. On the other hand, some African tribes were totally exterminated, while half of European Jews survived. Also, the Atlantic slave trade went on for 300 years, while the deliberate extermination of Jews went on for about 3 years. Duration is important too in terms of the effect on an ethnic group. Why is it so important to you to make this distinction? Why do you have to say that one horrible activity was far worse than the other? |

The polling we're seeing on this is fueled by the press accounts where nobody is asking why these cancellations are occurring, that many of those cancelled were being ripped off to begin with and the insurers wanted to dump those policies while they could without further scrutiny.Insurance is only as good as the claims they pay. In NY, none of these problem exist since the state has always been diligent in keeping hustlers OUT. |
