Uh oh ... MORE bad news for the GOP. And from their OWN! |

Posted by SelkirkTMO on Tue Jun 18 21:20:25 2013 That immigration bill that they don't want? Turns out that'll fix the deficit faster than killing Obamacare, medicare and social security combined. Whoops! :)http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/19/us/politics/boehner-says-he-wont-push-through-an-immigration-bill.html Excerpt: Headline: Immigration Law Changes Seen Cutting Billions From Deficit WASHINGTON — Congressional budget analysts, providing a positive economic assessment of proposed immigration law changes, said Tuesday that legislation to overhaul the nation’s immigration system would cut close to $1 trillion from the federal deficit over the next two decades and lead to more than 10 million new legal residents in the country. |

If you're worried that the defiict will drop too much, don't. Boehner announced that the bill won't come to the House floor unless a majority of Republicans agree. |

They are continuing the War on Women. They will not produce a viable passable immigration bill. Keeping those 2 actions in mind should frame the debate for the midterms. Then maybe we can get something done. |

Democrats have a huge hurdle in 2014.1 million more people voted Democratic than Republican for the House in 2012. Yet the margin in the Republicans' 218th-best seat was over 5%. |

However, my hopeful expectation is that by demoralizing the republicans many will just stay home and shoot their guns instead. Hopefully EMT and rescue personnel will see this coming and vote Democratic (after all the republicans will just lay them off through budget cuts) early. |

It's impossible for an influx of welfare recipients to "reduce the deficit".True. So if immigrants reduce the deficit and welfare recipients increase the deficit, one can easily conclude that ... |

They got Medicare part D dead wrong. |

Medicare part D is half of the bush deficit. Had it not been wrapped into ACA with its emphasis on cost controls we'd be going twice as bankrupt now.If anything, they underestimated the cost of all those on patent name brand drugs. With a republican FDA we'd have "reformulated" drugs (like they attempted to with Fosamax and Lipitor) actually getting patents and robbing the taxpayers blind. For which they would come up with some other $500/month drug to treat, along with x for this side effect, Y for that side effect, Z for..... |

Everyone uses the CBO to legitimize their pet legislation. It's the reason they exist. The CBO's scoring of the immigration bill is a mixed bag, but you're ignoring that. |

They're also the official accounting arm of congress. If they're so bad, why doesn't Boehner do something about them? Oh yeah ... DO something beyond abortion and repealing Obamacare. Nevermind. :) |
