Venture Capitalist

Posted by cortelyounext on Thu Jun 13 19:16:26 2013

fiogf49gjkf0d
As some of you know I have attempted various undertakings over the last couple years all of which have ended poorly. Said undertakings include becoming a museum curator, a National Park Ranger, an adjunct professor of Medieval Arts and Letters at Bard, Vassar, and Sarah Lawrence, and a professional bass fisherman to name a few. Now I am going to try to launch my latest venture which is a snow cone and shaved ice business in Newark and Perth Amboy and possibly the Jersey shore along the Point Pleasant - Manasquan Inlet corridor. I have already looked into the machines and will be ordering one soon. Once I get the requisite licenses, permits, and insurance I will set up my stand which will probably be an unqualified success. I intend to initially hire one employee for my business and, assuming all goes well, I will hire additional employees. I will let you know when and where I establish my establishment and then you can stop by. I will give you free snow cones and shaved ice if you want some. Please feel free to suggest a name for this my latest foray into the unknown. I hope you will try my product, and thanks.

Go with lemon flavoring and you can call it "Watch out where the Huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow." They'll flock from hundreds of miles away just to have some. :)

And here ... even drew you a logo! :)

Dave from the Metroplex is the leader in the clubhouse. The suggestion from SelkirkTMO, who is a Progressive Democrat but stubbornly remains unaffiliated and unregistered, is appreciated but is way too long and so I dismissed it out of hand. Individuals on this site apparently care little nothing about my success and well being as evidenced by the dearth which means lack or scarcity of responses. Nevertheless, I will leave this thread open until 150400Z JUN 13 just in case some of you come to your senses and decide to help me out as if that is ever going to happen. I am not holding my breath as I realize this is probably just a waste of my time.

If you want to succeed GET COLA SYRUP. Something unusual to draw people in. The beach is very competitive. Hell, get a liquor license and lace your cones with Scotch. That'll sell. Rocks on the Scotch. Now *that's* a gimmick.

I submitted the requisite documents this afternoon at the Essex County Municipal Office complex. It can take up to 6 weeks for processing the paperwork at which time I hope to open my Snow Cone and Shaved Ice stands in Newark and Perth Amboy. I have decided to take a wait and see approach before expanding my business to Manasquan and Point Pleasant. I will probably be successful in this endeavor. Please monitor this thread periodically for status updates to include the specific locations and the "Grand Opening" of my Snow Cone and Shaved Ice stands, and thanks.

I am going to begin with a kit that includes the following three basic flavors:

1. Lemon
2. Grape
3. Strawberry

My plan is to use those flavors for both the Snow Cones and Shaved Ice treats. I intend to add flavors over time as things develop. There are a couple Newark locations that are licensed commercial for food vending and the ones I am looking at are immediately south of and adjacent to the NJT/PATH layup tracks at Green Street and/or South Street. This was a priority message.

In order to assist you in properly assessing the aesthetics of your presentation, it might help for you to see what your competitors up here in Albany are serving customers using "next day air" for delivery. This is how Colgan Air is packaging theirs as an example. Note the lack of a container which of course causes premature melting:

Here's hoping your container vendor helps to provide a more appealing presentation to the customer and thanks for your time. :)

You chose to settle under an Albany arrival corridor knowing full well that blue ice cubes dropping out of the sky through the roof of your house is an everyday occurrence. Everyone knows that tinkle is sterile until it reaches the urethra where epithelial cells lining the urethra are colonized by facultatively anaerobic Gram negative rods and cocci.

Sorry to disappoint but hopefully this shot will ease your pain. It is of the Hess Terminal on the Hackensack River in Bogota, NJ across from the USS Ling (SS-297), a Baleo-class attack submarine from the Second World War which is moored next to the famous Heritage Diner in South Hackensack. I have spent countless hours standing at that terminal waiting for a tugboat pushing a barge to pull up but I never see one not ever. Then I go home.

I remember back in the 60's heading south to Monmouth on the Garbage State interchange there off the Turdpike giggling every time I saw the Hess building there off to the right. I've been looking for pictures of that monstrosty over the past few years and turned up nothing. Apparently HESS' management got tired of the jokes and redid the building (or tore it down or something, maybe it caught fire like Linden Exxon or something and burned to the ground) so as to not look like a silly gas pump anymore. Damned shame because I always admired whimisical architecture like LAX and that TWA building at JFk and such. :)

I can now disclose that I am well into the design phase of an ironing board where the legs go up and down without making that loud squeal. It incorporates a system using gravity, a simple geared hydraulic device, and mechanical uplocks. Further details, now proprietary, will be released to you at a time and place of my choosing. Between my ice stands in Newark and Perth Amboy and the ironing board, it is clear that I am well on my way to financial security.

Fred G wrote "The sky's the limit" in reference to my endeavors so that is the sentiment I choose to embrace rather than the unprovoked and unwarranted personal attacks many of you relentlessly launch against me. In the interest of full disclosure, here is another gem from Fred G directed against me... at least I think it was Fred G.

I respect you for your tireless efforts and for at least attempting to broaden your horizons and widen your breadth of experience. Notwithstanding all that, what are you even thinking? You are all over the place trying to become a National Park Ranger, a professional bass fisherman, a curator of the Classical Arts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a docent on some WW2 warship, a painter of dioramas at the Bronx Zoo, a designer/inventor of a hydraulic assisted ironing board, and now, establishing Snow Cone and Shaved Ice stands in Newark and who knows what else. Ever hear of focusing on one thing and seeing it through to the end just once? It is almost as if you never had any business training at all. Wake the f*** up already.

I have failed to reach the following goals, in no particular order, I set out to achieve since my childhood:

1. Garbage man Sanitation engineer
2. Professional ice hockey player
3. NYC Subway T/O

Said failures are nothing less than hopes unfulfilled, dreams unrealized, and prayers unanswered. This is why my Snow Cone business is something I continue to pursue with a singular and unrelenting purpose. I will not allow those chargé d'affaires, in this case the County of Essex Commercial Certification and Licensing Board, to intimidate me to the point of accepting a lesser area to set up my stands; that is, some overgrown, worthless location on some gang infested intersection in east Newark far from my requested sites. It is not my intent to infringe on any other business. All I want is fair and equitable treatment under the law. All I want are my rights. Once incorporated as a LLC, I will provide my shaved ice to you free of charge and that means each and every time you frequent my establishment. I hope you will tell your family and friends about my ices and that you will try my product, and thanks.
