Well as soon as they threatened to blow up the plane (though it was probably said in jest) I think the full anal probe response was warranted.This is exactly how such situations should be dealt with. Perhaps they were simply probing security to see if the old tricks would work again (they wouldn't *really* scramble fighters to shoot down a hijacked plane, would they? oh wait, fighters out the window). |

Then why didn't they go at it even slightly more effectively, like by having sharp heavy duty plastic letter openers to threaten the crew?Updated news reports suggest a violent family argument where threats to the crew took place when they tried to stop it.
