Funny how Bing Bong didn't mention this.

30,000 people are killed by guns each year in the US. A small portion of these (enough to have a new story each day) are criminals killed by their intended victim.

So what?

The new story each day is irrelevant to the question of how guns should be regulated within the framework of the Second Amendment.

And an equally small portion are innocents killed by legal firearms.

The rest are:
-killed by police
-killed as part of gang activity with illegal weapons

It would be awesome if right when we legalize marijuana we make firearms illegal in the US. The Mexican cartels and US street gangs will have a new lucrative line of work handed to them on a silver platter.

This isn't an island nation like Japan (where gun control actually works).

Wrong. It's more than double, in fact near triple, the number of successful"gun defenses" which number maybe 200 a year. You hear about them because they are SOOO rare.

There's typically thousands of accidental shootings every year. Of course the NRA types don't want those facts to get out, nor do they want (not limited to) criminal) liability for them.

Actually, if they do legalize it, the Mexican gangs are done. Replaced by the tobacco and drug company cartels with domestically grown crap. Anyplace where corn grows, weed grows well. The two crops in particular have quite the symbiotic relationship which is why weed grows wild in the midwest and as long as nobody picks it, nobody rips it out of the ground.

OK, you've accounted for almost half the deaths. What about the other half?
