"Today, instead of walking miles every day to school, they’re sitting on couches for hours playing video games, watching TV," she said of black youth. "Instead of dreaming of being a teacher or a lawyer or a business leader, they’re fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper."This is nothing new. The real problems are decaying morals, treating women like prostitutes, women reveling in thinking of themselves that way, and the overall glorification of the thug culture. This "element" as Luch would say seems to be an ever increasing proportion of the black population. Kids that can't separate rap lyrics from reality and try and live that lifestyle. Guys want to be thugs and women want to be with them. |

That's when all the things you stated were true.Decaying morals, women treated like dirt, minorities glorifying thuggery, women seeing themselves by their bodies, music of the devil, etc. Society is 100 times better today across all demographics and by every measure....except the music. |

Black society is not better in large parts of the country. More black kids grow up without fathers present than ever before. More black families are on welfare than ever before. More black pregnancies are aborted than ever before. More black men are in prison than ever before. |

Black society is not better in large parts of the country.False. More black kids grow up without fathers present than ever before. So do more Swede and Norwegian kids in the last 50 years. More black families are on welfare than ever before. False. More black pregnancies are aborted than ever before. False. More black men are in prison than ever before. So are other groups. That's only because penalties are much harsher today than in decades past. You think the past was like in "Happy Days". You worship a time that never existed. You worship a MYTH. |

Nah. I see it first hand. You either like ignoring the obvious or have no idea what you are talking about. And it has nothing to do with Happy Days or the 1950's. Those weren't especially great times for black people as you are well aware. |

Michelle is right. Blacks don't have enough role models outside sports and music. |

Nah. I see it first hand.People say first hand how it was like in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. It was WORSE. Everything you said that you see today today was much more pronounced back then. That's why society was in chaos in the 60's, 70's, 80's up to the mid 90's. Meanwhile we just dealt with the worst economy since the 30's and American society (in all demographics) stood firm and with flying colors. In American history, that had NEVER HAPPENED under such conditions or even much better ones. You are LUCKY to live in these times and so are your kids. |

"Happy Daysso glad you brought it up. I watch repeats once or twice a week. And I was thinking, if Happy Days was in production today, it would have to be modified to today's PC standards. The Fonz is the coolest and most popular so he would have to be a light-skinned black male or Latino. Richie would be gay. But not the first few seasons. They would build up to him "coming out" and the media would treat it like one of the most important moments in tv history. Al's would be a Mexican restaurant for no particular reason and he'd be an immigrant just to promote the agenda. Mr. Cunningham would be an intolerable bigot, sexist, ist, ist, ist. Mrs. Cunningham and Joanie would stay the same. There was a time in America like Happy Days. |

I don't watch TV and I certainly don't get my education from TV shows."Mad Men" is a show of the 2010's, not the 1960's. It would give me about as much of a glimpse of the '60's as some movie about Ancient Rome with British actors would give me a glimpse of life in the Roman Empire. |

Immigrant in todayspeak means Latino or Muslim. An Asian or Italian? Does not matter. They are not victim status groups. We have plenty..They dont have to famous people. it could be the community center matron..a teacher at school..a friend next door..a store owner..A PARENT..A roommate. an employer..a big brother or sister..a aunt or uncle..plus a bunch of other influences. My mom..dad..granddad ,uncles and aunts, sisters and bothers were all a great focus for me as they all were super successful in their endeavors. There were enough folks outside the family to serve as positive reinforcements OUTSIDE of the church that showed me enough to stay away from the wrongs. You and a whole bunch of folks here don't know enough about black folks other than your narrow minded racism to look beyond it. |

I think THUGGERY is more embraced by minorities than whites.Although Italians have done a good job of embracing the Mafia and white elements embrace Sons Of Anarchy types, in the white community, the pattern has been to try and make it better for the next generation while in minority communities, it's is passed on from one generation to the next.
