Yeah but the downside is that for the red and purple lines they don't really drive them. They just initiate operation and then open and close doors. Plus its all in a tunnel. They probably only have them operate the doors to keep them from falling asleep. ;) |

I rather doubt that, but I don't have access to NYCT's contracted rates. I suppose it's possible that with OT some employees without HS degrees could conceivably make more than me, but I really can't say that bothers me. Besides, it'd probably be quite a bit of OT.Some Septa drivers work (5) days of 11 hr runs and work on one of their days off and make $100K/yr. |

The old ear sez we used to run arnines up to near 50 normally. Maybe a little more on a downhill. Them rail joints under the wheels didn't lie. You know they've slowed down the railroad when you get passed by folks with walkers. :) |

Dewwwwd ... trains were separated by long intervals over in B division. You wouldn't catch up to your leader until he was leaving the terminal going the other way. B division controllers once had only two speeds ... on and off. :) |
