It's isn't consumed in the kinds of quantities daily over half a lifespan to cause those kind of problems. Yes, the carcinogens and tar are in the smoke (as they are in ALL smoke) but the consumption level are so low as to negate the risk. One would pass out long before they could equal the same carcinogen consumption a pack a day smoker gets.

There have been studies and marijuana use has been linked to lower crime rates, especially low level street crimes as its calming effects produce lethargy.

Medicine has tried to reproduce the effect of THC with other drugs. That has been proven in studies with chemotherapy patients. Google some. Natural THC increases appetite and reduces nausea (what good is hunger if nothing stays down, the shortcoming with synthetics), which also reduces anemia requiring lowered doses of drugs to resolve that side effect of chemotherapy for certain cancers. The fewer drugs, the lower doses of needed drugs the better.

Any patient getting sufficient nutrition during therapies that border on lethal has a better chance of survival than one that does not.
