Correct, and this is the sentiment that (rational) pro-gun advocates also seem to hold. In addition to your points, there's also the possibility that a "friendly" with a gun would be seen as the malicious shooter and tackled by the panicked audience.The guy was also in full body armor. My friend and I determined the only way a gun would have helped the situation would be if someone in the projector booth had a rifle with armor piercing rounds, a highly unlikely situation. But at the same time, saying that this tragedy would have been averted if guns were illegal: you can't legislate against crazy. He may as well have driven a car into the crowds as they exited the theater to the parking lot... |
