Obama came out in support of gay marriage two months ago, and has done more for the LGBT community than any President before him. For the record, though, when I interviewed the President last year, I tried to get him to talk about gay marriage, but he avoided that topic, which I duly reported on virtually EVERY LGBT media outlet I could find. I was critical of his reluctance to state a position on marriage equality, at a time when the issue was being debated in the New York Legislature. However, Obama did say to me that the ongoing debate in the state Senate was "democracy at work".

I'm not against the "Christian ethic" thing. I am against the hateful uses to which religious belief is sometimes put. Religious freedom (said President Obama) does not mean one has the right to force his religious beliefs on everyone else. That certainly applies to lawmaking, no?
