You can draw a very simple and clear line that would be fitting of what the IOC supposedly stands for. The IOC could recognize any Olympian who dies during the course of the Olympics at each opening ceremony. Saying they have no time or space for moments of silence during the opening ceremony is complete and utter BS, they found time for observing the death of luger Nodar Kumaritashvili in 2010. I think the IOC is concerned about reprisals from Arab countries more than anything else, which is sad in light of what the Olympics are meant to represent.
