Just so's we're all clear here so I can put down this horsewhip ... yes, Ross screwed up and got it wrong. But in a professional news operation, every single word and graphic is carefully choreographed by news producers, art department and a news director for every show. Same even at your local Podunk TV station.

His "script" there was full of cautious words, not to be taken lightly. His mannerisms on camera clearly indicated that he didn't have much faith in what his lips were moving to. If I were the news director there, I wouldn't have allowed it on the air without attribution. Therefore, the REAL blame here belongs to the show's producer and in particular the news director for the show. That should have been struck from the rundown sheet before it was even put into the rundown sheet. :(
