In fairness to the Boy Scouts, they aren't banning people who are gay, just people who are openly gay. Usually "openly gay" means an acknowledgment that you are having sex, though there can be exceptions. It's not clear that they would ban a scoutmaster who happened to have a male roommate and never publicly acknowledged having sex with him.In addition, I'm sure they would also kick out a den mother or scoutmaster who told the scouts they were having heterosexual sex with someone other than their spouse. |
