At the same time, they shouldn't expect to remain a cultural force, be resigned to be kept out of the public sphere (such as wearing a Scout uniform to school on meeting days), or allowed to come to public schools to recruit membership.As I said elsewhere, they'll still exist, but in a greatly diminished form. Future generations will see them as a hate club, and keep their kids away. Other inclusive organizations will fill the gap. Things change. Their own choices will bring it on themselves. |
