Back then they interpreted everything bad as "God disapproving", as they didn't understand science. When bad things happened, "God was punishing", etc.Unfortunately, people today still believe all this. No, a lot of Jewish law is explicitly the opposite of what pagan nations were doing (like shaving). There are also numerous laws that don't have a logical explanation. |
