Don't think for a minute it is just the "element" or "those people" in the ER. If and when your job gets exported to India or China, or simply get excessed, you go on Cobra for 18 months, and then you get nothing or it will cost $8K a year if they don't refuse you.Sooner or later you will have to pay for something expensive because you are not immortal. Colonoscopies start at $2,000. You could break a wrist very easily. You should be getting a blood analysis annually. When , not if , you (and everyone else) gets a stroke, heart attack, or cancer, once you run your assets down to zero, you will declare personal bankruptcy, which is basically debt forgiveness, because lack of health insurance is the leading cause of it, and then we will all subsidize your debts. That's why it has to be mandatory. |
