Demand shriveled up, inventories sat. No need for employees until demand increases. That's why stimuluses are done. They provide jobs which serve to create demand. Once there's demand, the private sector (which won't hire unless they are beyond the need for more people) can provide for same. That's how GM came back.Fact is, bush left the economy in worse shape than anyone is willing to admit. Had it not been for food programs and unemployment, we'd be looking at crisp new pictures of millions waiting on breadlines again. |
