If you can't prove your claim that BMW is going to close down in South Carolina and move to Detroit, just admit that you misspoke. If you can't back up your claim that conscription is called for in the Constitution, just say that you were in error and move on. Are you so incapable of admitting that you are incorrect that you'd go through all of this? Even the turtle has admitted that he has been wrong on occasions.
