Defiling women of another culture is a classic expression of dominance and revenge.Xenophobia and sexism are also one of the hallmarks and most appealing (appalling?) features of Conservatism in both its religious and secular forms. In retrograde and sick cultures like those of the Middle East, the juxtaposition of such a culture along with the most reactionary aspects of the prevalent religion is what makes the events of the OP possible. |
