Well, he was a socialist who saw and hated the hypocrisy of his fellows. Perhaps you could say he was a socialist, not a Socialist.WWII really resulted in his disappointments in leftism. Can I reword that "WWII amplified his disappointments in the left"? The Spanish Civil War (which he participated in) really sparked his disgust with the left. |
