The difference is that they were sufficiently versed in the inner workings of Washington that they learned how to build consensus and compromise.That is actually not true. The problem, as I stated before, is that the parties have become more ideologically separated. The Democrats as a party have moved further to the Left, while the Republicans have moved further to the Right: It is this fact that is responsible for the failure to build consensus in Congress, not any fault of Obama's. That whole bit is a strawman, and Romney would have the same problems with the Democrats (of course, then you get to blame the Democrats for holding up "progress"; heads I win, tails you lose). |
