One quibble:Parents don't impose their beliefs on their children. The connection between parent and child, relative to the culture at large, is 100% genetic. Where children do absorb the beliefs professed by their parents, over and above whatever they inherited from them, it is through the things they picked up by their peers (which they all got from their parents). It's a roundabout process, at best. In that sense, JayZee's objection to the church may have some merit, as all the children present represent the peer group that will serve to reinforce each other's beliefs. |
