RIP

I remember when my parents bought their first remote controlled TV. Shortly after we moved into our own house in 1964. Nothing fancy, a black & white job, maybe 17", but it had a remote control. No features other than on and off and maybe volume (been so long I don't remember). One funny thing--my mother used to keep it in the top nightstand draw, right under the phone. The phone was one of those old-school black rotary dial jobs, and ir rang rather "enthusiactially". As such, the vibration would actually activate the remote in the draw! On more than one occasion, we'd arrive home and the TV was on, any my mom was like, I know I didn't leave it on! Then one day, she was at home in a her romm, TV off, remote in draw, and the phone rang and turned the TV on, LOL. I think after that, she put the remote in the other nightstand draw :)
