That's wrong. Like so much of everything else, states like MA and NY would end up subsidizing healthcare for those deadbeat states....the ones that take from the Federal government more than they pay. The ones that won't raise their taxes to sustainable fund their governments. The ones that won't face up to the fact that underpaid working populations can't afford to pay the level of taxes it takes to fund properly government functioning, stuff like road repairs and stop signs...and public schools.We shouldn't be funding basic local government functioning just because those states/localities won't collect enough taxes to assure their functioning. Let's NOT add subsidizing healthcare to the mix. We are doing more than we should be already. What we need to ascertain here is that there's precedent for the Federal government to regulate interstate commerce. |
