If Obama is what we suspect (a man of average intelligence who has profited from affirmative action) then it puts nearly half a century of social policy into question.

If Obama is of average intelligence, no matter what kind of affirmative action is in place, he wouldn't have been able to excel in the places such policy put him.

I don't think SAT scores lower than W disqualifies Obama.

Then you would be a fool.

We've had plenty of presidents who were not Ivy League material, some of them our best (Truman for example). The bigger picture is the whole concept of affirmative action. Should we continue to support a system which advances people on the basis of their skin color? To our own potential collective detriment?

We should not, because it doesn't work. But not for the reasons you think.
