Do you have any idea how much it would cost to do this? We have millions of these dollar coins in warehouses that no one wants. Every couple of years, someone comes up with the bright idea for a new dollar coin. But, after the novelty wears off, people get pissed when they use a dollar coin by mistake, instead of a quarter. So, they wind up in the dresser drawers. And, don't forget that back in the old days, people hated silver dollars because they weighed too much. As for the $2 bill, it was never accepted. The US Mint, a few months ago, started selling $2 bills in full uncut sheets. Nobody wanted them, even as uncut collector's items. You can't "force" people to accept and use coins and currency that have been disliked for generations! |
