Yes, it's how it's supposed to work but this was an entire anti-Sarkozy reaction, not a pro-Hollande one.This guy will be just as unpopuar. Had he not been a criminal, Dominique Strauss-Kahn was the only hope for a coherent center-left policy in France. The center-right UMP continues to have the majority in Parliament. France does not operate on the parliamentary system like most European countries. It's closer to the American system where you can have divided government. He will have to appoint a conservative PM to run the day-to-day stuff. Essentially a co-President. |
