I would venture to say that as labor issues were a central theme of yesterday's OWS events, the TWU was right to have a very public presence there. I do think the TWU will be appropriately diligent about their contract with the MTA. There is a Mayoral election coming up, which I think makes the political climate favorable for the union. TWU members as a voting bloc are fairly reliable, not something a candidate wants to alienate.As for the call center, I think that comes down to one of the bugaboos of our time: do you get a human or a machine when you call them? |
