Organized labor comprises a considerable segment of the OWS movement, as it has from the beginning. The "kind of people" participating in OWS activities are often employed members of the 99%, as opposed to the mischaracterization of them as jobless bums in the street. The TWU, UFT, 1199, CWA, 32BJ, IBEW, Actors' Equity, 802, AFTRA, DC 37, and ILU, to name but a few labor unions out of many, are a constant presence among OWS protesters. In addition, as many people posting here are members of the TWU or other labor unions, it is perhaps enlightening to show them that many of the "Jobless, worthless leeches" at OWS they complain about, are, in reality, their co-workers. |
