I think the pitot/static system was sending erroneous readings to the instruments, which possibly conflicted with what the flight management system--the plane's computer--was telling the flight crew. If the pitot tubes were "iced over", it could have sent the FMS bad data, or caused the ADI to generate false readings...the flight crew got caught in a bad place. |
