Yeah, I have done that myself. I almost never take the LIRR into Manhattan, but I if I don't drive into Manhattan, I do often drive to a subway station in Brooklyn or Queens, park, and then take the subway into Manhattan.
I have done that for Yankees games to, although then I usually drive the Grand Central to the Triborough Bridge, park around 125th St and Lexington, take the 4 train up 3 stops. After the game, jump on the subway down a few stops, hop in my car, and within minutes I am back on the Grand Central...

I avoid taking the LIRR whenever possible, as I like to be on my own schedule. There wouldn't be an easy way to drive to the Barclays Center, it's almost a force that you would have to take the LIRR, and that would suck.

I don't have the patience anymore for the LIRR, call me "spoiled", but I just don't want to do it anymore.
