I'm a roadgeek, but I-5 and CA 99 are typical Caltrans snooze fests outside of the mountain passes if you're used to New York's interstate regime. Planes just suck for daytrips given the lack of flexibility* in changing tickets and security**, and it's much too far to drive that distance and return home on the same day. *I've called Amtrak on a few occasions to change my reservations to a later train due to running late from having fun. **And in my case, due to my ears hurting like hell from the change in air pressure... |
