That's not at ALL what I said ... automation's promise was more work out of machines resulting in fewer hours for the same wages for those who worked in those factories. Last time we went through this stuff, I posted nnumerous images from the science and manufacturing magazines of the time from Popular Mechanics to Time magazine where this is what they were selling to America ...And where the HELL is my goddam flying car? :) |
